On Feb. 20 and 21, several Music and Performing Arts students from Elon competed in the North Carolina National Association of Teachers of Singing Student Auditions at Western Carolina University. More than 300 students competed in various categories and were judged by voice teachers from around the state. Elon’s students ranked high with the following results:
- Freshmen College Women Category: 1st place – Sarah Stevens, 2nd place – Kristin Alvis and Maya Singh
- Sophomore College Women Category: 3rd place – Trista Duval
- Music Theatre College Women Category: 1st place – Christine Piche, 2nd place – Kristin Alvis, 3rd place -Natalie Newman
- Music Theatre College Men Category: 2nd place – Cary Mitchell, 3rd place – Todd Beasley
Most of the winners are eligible to compete in the regional auditions along with Lauren Zapko who qualified from the Freshmen College Women Category. Congratulations to these talented students.
