Students participate in seminar at Democratic convention

Three Elon students participated in The Washington Center’s national political convention seminar from July 18-30 at the Democratic National Convention in Boston.

Jason Barrett, Kathleen Searles and Jason Senges were among eight North Carolina students who attended lectures, workshops and seminars. A total of 250 students from across the nation participated, volunteering with various organizations, convention delegations and media representatives for a first-hand look at the nominating convention.

Since 1984, The Washington Center has organized the only national academic program for college students at both national political party conventions. Over 1,500 students have participated in these two week events that provide civic engagement opportunities in the midst of historical political events.

More than 200 college students and faculty will participate in The Washington Center’s academic seminar Aug. 18-Sept. 3 at the Republican National Convention in New York.
