Journalism students win national third-place

Elon University journalism majors Lindsay Porter and Megan Turner are

members of an Alamance News reporting team that earned a third-place award

in the National Newspaper Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest.

Porter and Turner wrote comprehensive profile feature articles on Alamance

County World War II veterans. Each wrote one article in a group of five

winning articles entered by the Alamance News in the national contest’s

Community Service category for non-daily newspapers.

The Alamance News is a county-wide weekly newspaper owned and edited by Tom Boney, an Elon benefactor who regularly employs Elon University students as interns and full-time reporters.
