Founded in 1984, PRISM was the first saxophone quartet ever presented by Lincoln Center. The ensemble has twice been awarded the Chamber Music America/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming of Contemporary Music and has been chosen by Musical America as Outstanding Young Artists.
PRISM has commissioned or presented the premieres of more than 60 works. Their music includes works by a variety of accomplished composers, including Elliott Carter, Chick Corea and Thelonius Monk.
PRISM has toured extensively, including recent appearances at Alice Tully Hall with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and in Latin America. In 1997, PRISM started its own concert series in New York and Philadelphia. The quartet’s members, Matthew Levy, Timothy McAllister, Taimur Sullivan and Michael Whitcombe, have presented recitals and master classes at many colleges and universities, including the Oberlin Conservatory, the University of Michigan and the Curtis Institute of Music.
Tickets for the concert are $12 or free for those with valid Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased by calling the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
