Environmental awareness contest winners for November

A student won free textbooks for spring semester and a staff member won Phoenix Cash and a gift card to Barnes & Noble for correctly answering the second monthly question in Elon's environmental awareness contest. Details...

Student Emily Griffin and staff member Jennifer Smith correctly answered this question: “A typical car puts one pound of carbon dioxide into the air for each mile it is driven. How many years does it take a newly planted tree to removed one ton of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere?”

The correct answer is 40 years.

Griffin won free textbooks for the spring 2005 semester, while Smith won $200 in Phoenix Cash and a $200 gift card to Barnes & Noble.

Look for the next question in January to win prizes, and continue to conserve energy for the year-long contest!
