The contest tracks the conservation efforts of the campus community with two primary goals:
- Reducing our energy consumption compared to a prior year baseline
- Increasing the amount of recyclable materials generated from the campus.
Monthly progress in our consumption and recycling generation will be tracked on this web site and our goal is to use less energy and to recycle more. If the University succeeds in achieving these goals, prizes will be awarded to students and faculty/staff. Student awards will consist of 4 each, $5,000 fellowships (application/nomination procedures will be publicized at a later date). Faculty/staff award is a $2,000 cash gift chosen from all correct faculty/staff responses in the monthly contests.
