Student lands role in BBC, History Channel show

Elon sophomore Jess Barbour plays the role of a nurse in an upcoming docudrama, tentatively scheduled to air at 8 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29 on The History Channel.

Barbour will play Nurse Rosella in “Days That Shook The World: Pearl Harbor.” The 60-minute show recounts the events of Dec. 7, 1941 and the people who assisted in relief efforts in the moments after the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Barbour, who attended Wakefield High School in Raleigh, has been involved in television and film acting since eighth grade. She has appeared in several commercials and also landed an extra role in the popular TV series, “Dawson’s Creek.”

Barbour auditoned for the part during the summer in Wilmington before being selected. She spent an entire day filming her role during a shoot with a BBC crew at the Wilmington Port Authority this fall.
