Nominated for five Tony Awards, this musical’s hauntingly beautiful score and script were based on Brontë’s novel of vision, flame and flight: the vision that allows two people to see and love each other’s true selves; the flame of a fire that destroys and the fire of passion that renews; and the flight of a girl running from past oppression toward liberty and equality.
