Tao Wang, visiting professor from Southeast University in Nanjing, China, presented a paper titled “Retrospection on a Dilemma of University Students in China under the Dual Pressures of Tradition and Modernity” at the Chinese Perspectives on Culture and Society Conference at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Fla., on February 26, 2005. His paper was accepted for this conference among others that are from Canada, Hong Kong and the United States.
The paper focuses on dilemma of contemporary university students in a transitional society of China while confronting the clashes of tradition and modernity. This paper will be published as a chapter in a book titled Chinese Perspectives on Culture and Society in 2006.
