Tom Arcaro, professor of sociology and director of Project Pericles, and junior Jonathan Chuk, a Periclean Scholar, gave a presentation about the project at the American Association for Higher Education (AAHE) meetings March 19 in Atlanta.
The session was titled “How Does/Can/Should a Commitment to Civic Engagement Transform Institutions of Higher Education,” and included comments by David Scobey of the University of Michigan and Richard Guarasci, president of Wagner College. The presentation included a description of the Elon University Periclean Scholars program and examples of student engagement from members of the Periclean Scholars class of 2006.
