Elon hosts students for regional Envirothon

On Tuesday, March 22, the Elon University Center for Environmental Studies hosted the Regional Envirothon. More than 300 middle and high school students from 11 North Carolina counties competed to be the winner in environmental knowledge. The Envirothon is an international competition, sponsored by the Natural Resource Conservation Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Elon faculty and students served as hosts and guides for the visiting students and as instructors for a teacher workshop. Several Elon students have participated in this competition before coming to Elon, saying it sparked their interest in Environmental Studies. Many of the visiting students attending indicated an interest in coming to Elon and in pursuing careers related to the environment.
