Student organization awards presented

Student leaders representing a variety of campus organizations gathered Thursday, March 31 for the 9th annual Organization Awards and Inaugural Ceremony, hosted by the Student Government Association (SGA).

The banquet honors outstanding student leaders and highlights the accomplishments of campus groups during the academic year. During dinner, the Elon University jazz ensemble provided musical entertainment.

Chris Baker, a member of the Elon Board of Trustees and executive vice president and CFO with First State Bank, was the guest speaker. She encouraged students to serve as models of leadership after graduation.

“As you leave Elon, please don’t lose that sense of community, that sense of giving, because that’s what it’s all about,” Baker said. “I want you to go out and continue what you’ve been doing, and that’s serving others and serving the community.”

SGA president Chris Morse thanked members of his leadership team for their hard work. The program concluded with the inauguration of new SGA executives and an address by Michael Bumbry, incoming SGA president.
