Jazz ensemble in concert, Nov. 18

The Elon University jazz ensemble will feature swing and salsa music during its fall concert at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 18 in McKinnon Hall, located in Moseley Center on campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

Jane Wellford, associate professor of performing arts, will offer free swing and salsa dance lessons in McKinnon Hall at 6:30 p.m. Members of the audience will be invited to take part in a dance contest during the concert, which will include Count Basie’s “One O’Clock Jump” and Dizzy Gillespie’s “Manteca.” A panel of three judges will determine winners in three categories-the best swing couple, the best salsa couple and the best faculty/staff couple. The winners in each category will receive a cash prize.
