Students to earn Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees, Dec. 11

Twenty-six students in Elon’s charter DPT class will receive degrees during a ceremony at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11 in Whitley Auditorium. These students are the first to complete Elon’s full-time, 3-year Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The ceremony will include welcoming remarks from Provost Gerald Francis, President Leo M. Lambert and an address by Ben F. Massey, Jr., president of the American Physical Therapy Association. Student awards will be presented by Stephen Bailey, research coordinator, Marianne Janssen, director of clinical education, and Gerald Dillashaw, dean of education.

Eleven students will also complete the transitional DPT program, which is offered to Elon MPT graduates, giving them the opportunity to earn the equivalent of a DPT degree. A 6-month program, the transitional DPT curriculum is delivered primarily online. These students are:
