Tenneson, Cohen art display opens Feb. 6

Images by Joyce Tenneson and Abigail Cohen will be on display in the Isabella Cannon Room, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon University campus, Monday, Feb. 6-Thursday, Feb. 23. An opening reception is scheduled from 5-7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 6 in the Cannon Room. Tenneson will discuss her work during a public talk at 6 p.m. that same evening. The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibition will feature images by Tenneson and Cohen who, at different stages in their own lives, explored an portrayed the complexities facing women as they grow and age.

A respected photographer, Tenneson’s work has been shown in exhibitions around the world, and her photographs have appeared on the covers of Time, Life, Newsweek, Esquire and The New York Times Magazine. Tenneson has written 10 books, including the best seller “Wise Women.” She has received the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Award and has been named Photographer of the Year by Women in Photography.

Cohen, who died in December 2000, was at the beginning of a highly promising career. She held a Master of Fine Arts Degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design and attended Tenneson’s summer workshops there.
