Economic expert from Costa Rica to speak

Dr. Jorge Nowalski, chairman of the International Center for Sustainable Human Development (CIDH) in Costa Rica, will be on campus Monday, April 29– Wednesday, May 1. He will speak in various classes regarding social and economic development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

He will also give a presentation about economic, labor and social asymmetries in Central America in Moseley 215 on Monday, April 29, from 4 to 5 p.m. A question-and-answer-session will follow. Please attend and encourage your students to come. He will also be available for a few individual appointments on Wednesday, May 1. CIDH is a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean through research, policy analysis and education. Elon students will study at CIDH beginning in the fall with Elon’s new semester program in Costa Rica.

Dr. Nowalski holds a Ph.D. in labor issues and Social Security from the London School of Economics as well as degrees in industrial relations, public administration of the social state and economics. He is a university professor and a labor consultant for public and private business groups.
