Bestselling author, storyteller Burroughs at Elon, March 6

Augusten Burroughs, author of the bestseller “Magical Thinking” and “Running with Scissors,” will share his personal story and selections from his work at 7:30 p.m., Monday, March 6 in McCrary Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts on the Elon campus.

Burroughs will share tales from his disturbing, but ultimately life-affirming childhood with the dry wit and eye for the absurd that have made his books so popular. Through his humorous yet moving presentation, he inspires audiences to embrace humor, accept difference, and create conditions for their own success.

Burroughs’ books have been published in 15 countries, and “Running with Scissors” spent more than 70 consecutive weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. His writing has appeared in newspapers and magazines around the world and he is a regular contributor for National Public Radio’s Morning Edition. His humor has earned him a place on Entertainment Weekly’s list of the “15 Funniest People in America.”

Tickets for the event are $12 or free for those with valid Elon identification. Tickets may be purchased at the McCrary Theatre box office at (336) 278-5610. The box office is open from 12:30 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
