SGA sponsors organizational awards, inaugural ceremony

The Student Government Association sponsored the Organizational Awards and Inaugural Ceremony (OAIC) Thursday, March 30. Award winners are listed below:

  • Dr. Matt Clark was honored as Faculty Member of the Year
  • Steve Anderson, assistant director of residence life and judicial affairs, was honored as the Barbara H. Carlton Student Organization Faculty Advisor of the Year. Steve advises the Residence Hall Association
  • Keith Dimont, automotive services, was honored for Outstanding Service to Students.

Nominees for these awards are chosen by student organizations and are voted on by a diverse student panel.

Other award recipients included:

  • Outstanding New Organization- Phoenix Phanatics
  • Campus Greater Community Involvement: Phi Beta Sigma
  • Organization Member of the Year: Mike Donofrio
  • Organization Officer of the Year: Colleen Clark
  • Organization/Group- Highest GPA: New Student Orientation
  • University Program of the Year: Campus Recreation
  • Organization of the Year Under 30 Members: Twisted Measure
  • Organization of the Year over 30 Members: Gospel choir
  • Newcomer of the Year: Samantha Tremblay
  • Organization Committee of the Year: Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Development Committee
  • J. Earl Danieley Outstanding Student Leaders: Dave Warfel and Mary Ellen Kramer.

John Burbridge, dean of the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, delivered an inspiring keynote address. Dr. Danieley was present to make comments and present his named awards.

The ceremony also serves as the installation ceremony for the SGA Executive Officers. These officers include:

  • President-Michael Bumbry
  • Vice President-David Morrow
  • Secretary-Sara Schupp
  • Treasurer- Garrett Kachellek
