Devaney ’78 takes executive post with Atlanta Falcons

Billy Devaney ’78 has been named senior personnel executive for the Atlanta Falcons. Devaney will serve as a day-to-day liaison for Falcons President and General Manager Rich McKay between the team’s college and pro personnel departments, as well as the coaching staff.

Devaney has 20 years of NFL scouting and player personnel experience. He helped construct three Super Bowl teams, including the 1987 Washington Redskins team that won Super Bowl XXII. He also served as director of player personnel for the San Diego Chargers for 11 seasons.

He has also served as pro personnel assistant with the San Francisco 49ers and was a consultant and analyst for CBS in 2004-2005.

Devaney was a four-year letterman as a strong safety at Elon and also lettered for three seasons in baseball.
