A bench near the west entrance of Koury Center was dedicated Thursday, April 13 in memory of Ann Lashley, associate head women’s basketball coach, who died Nov. 10 after a battle with cancer.
Chaplain Richard McBride and assistant chaplain Kate Colussy-Estes offered remarks and a prayer of dedication to the assembled group of friends, coworkers and members of the women’s basketball team. Director of Athletics Alan White, head women’s basketball coach Brenda Paul and trustee Jeanne Robertson addressed the gathering, along with other members of the Elon community.
Paul took note of the beautiful spring day and said, “I just know this is the perfect day for Ann, because every day in the spring she would come into the office and say ‘I love my job.’ She loved how beautiful it is here in the spring.”
Memorial benches are dedicated in honor of Elon employees who die during their terms of service to the university.
