Klopman, Zaiser receive promotions at Elon

Elon University President Leo M. Lambert has promoted Susan C. Klopman to vice president for admissions and financial planning, and Greg L. Zaiser has been promoted to dean of admissions. Both appointments are effective June. 1.

Klopman has served as dean of admissions and financial planning since 2000, a period in which Elon’s applications for admissions increased more than 70 percent. She first came to Elon in 1985 as a member of the department of publications and public information and also worked in the institutional advancement office. She was assistant to the president from 1993 to 1996 before moving to the admissions office.

In her new position, Klopman will lead all aspects of new student enrollment for the undergraduate and graduate schools, exclusive of the School of Law, and all financial planning operations. Among her primary responsibilities will be enrollment planning and marketing. She will continue to serve on President Lambert’s senior staff and work with the board of trustees and other university boards on admissions matters.

Klopman has a bachelor’s degree in English from St. Andrew’s College and a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.

Zaiser graduated from Elon in 1990 and immediately took a position as admissions counselor, and later was named assistant director of admissions. In 1995 he joined the institutional advancement staff as director of reunion giving. In 1997 Zaiser was named director of international admissions, and he added responsibilities to lead graduate admissions in 1999.

Zaiser was named assistant dean of admissions in 2001 and promoted to associate dean of admissions and financial planning and director of undergraduate admissions in 2003.

In his new position, Zaiser will manage the entire undergraduate admissions program, including recruitment travel, campus visit programs, application processing and evaluation and all merit-based scholarship awards. He will oversee the daily operation of undergraduate admissions and supervise all undergraduate admissions staff.

Zaiser’s bachelor’s degree is in business administration; he also has a master’s degree in business administration from Elon.
