Riemer elected governor of N.C. Student Legislature

Clark Riemer, a junior political science major, has been elected Governor of the North Carolina Student Legislature, a state-wide body composed of delegations from North Carolina colleges and universities. The election was held April 22 in the chambers of the N.C. General Assembly in Raleigh.

Riemer, from Smyrna, N.C., will guide the organization in the 2006-2007 academic year with plans to expand membership and develop closer ties to the N.C. General Assembly. He joins Brett Cooper and Travis Suber as Elon students elected as Governor of the NCSL.

The NCSL was founded in 1937 and is the oldest active student legislature in the country. Among the 5,000 students who have participated in the organization are Elon President Emeritus J. Earl Danieley, former N.C. governors James Hunt and James Holshouser, and the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
