Tom Henricks, Danieley Professor of Sociology and Distinguished University Professor, has published a new book titled “Play Reconsidered.” The book was published Aug. 21 by University of Illinois Press.
Henricks argues that play is a social and cultural phenomenon of adult life, not something just for the young or for the development of skills. Henricks says a truly sociological approach to play should begin with a consideration of largely overlooked writings on play and play-related topics by some of the classic sociological thinkers of the 20th century.
