Periclean-in-Residence to discuss children’s relief work in Honduras, Oct. 8

Karen Godt, Elon’s Periclean-in-Residence and director of the Hope for Honduran Children Foundation, will discuss the challenges facing children in Honduras during a presentation at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 8 in Whitley Auditorium on the Elon University campus. Her presentation is free and open to the public.

Godt’s foundation has undertaken a variety of relief activities in Honduras. Hope for Honduran Children supports a farming community for teenage boys, a city orphanage for street children, a home for children with HIV/AIDS, a safe village for abandoned or neglected children and a training center for teenage girls.

Project Pericles is a national program committed to raising the level of civic engagement and awareness at 10 colleges and universities. Elon annually hosts a Periclean-in-Residence, a scholar-activist who interacts with students and faculty.
