Peters named to World Council of Churches commission

Toddie Peters, assistant professor of Religious Studies, was recently named to a seven-year term on the Standing Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches.

The Faith and Order Commission works to bring together representative people from different Christian confessions to work towards the visible unity of the Church. The Commission regularly convenes meetings of theologians and educators from the churches in order to discuss church-dividing issues and church-uniting possibilities.

A widely representative historical movement, it has been called “the most comprehensive theological forum in Christendom.”
