Elon targets assistance to aid Eastern Guilford teachers

Elon University’s fundraising efforts in response to the fire that destroyed Eastern Guilford High School will provide $100 grants to each of the 85 faculty members at the school. Teachers often provide instructional materials with their own money, and those losses will not be covered by insurance. The grants to the teachers will be channeled through the school’s parent-teacher organization.

Elon has conducted Eastern High relief fund drives at College Coffee, at a Phoenix home football game and through the Kernodle Center for Service Learning in Moseley Center. Donations are being coordinated by Smith Jackson, vice president for student life and dean of students.
