Dr. Robert M. and Lydia C. Califf of Durham, N.C., have established The Califf Endowed Scholarship at Elon University. The Califfs have been dedicated members of the Board of Visitors since 2002 and their daughter, Sharon Califf Boozer, is a 2000 Elon graduate.
The Califf Scholarship will be awarded to an entering freshman who is a deserving student and who is not a candidate for an academic merit award. The scholarship will be given to a resident of North Carolina or South Carolina who is not eligible for a performance-based scholarship, such as athletics or performing arts, and who has overcome difficult life experiences such as illness, poverty, or family crisis. In addition, the recipient will have an SAT score and GPA below the 25th percentile of his or her classmates. Financial need is not a requirement, but may be taken into consideration.
