Resident Student Association earns top N.C. honor

Elon's Resident Student Association (RSA) was named School of the Year by the North Carolina Association of Residence Halls (NCARH) at the organization's annual conference Feb. 2-3 in Cullowhee, N.C. Details...

The honor qualifies Elon’s RSA to participate in the South Atlantic
Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (SAACURH) No Frills
conference March 9-11. Elon RSA will be eligible for that
organization’s School of the Year award, presented to the top school in
nine Southeastern states.

Elon RSA takes an active role in students’ lives, hosting regular
social and educational programs. Through RSA, Elon students also
participate in local community service projects, including visits to
the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club in Burlington, a benefit concert
for Loaves and Fishes, a local food bank, and fundraising efforts to
help Eastern Guilford High School, which was destroyed by fire in
November. RSA also sponsors student trips to events such as Carolina
Hurricanes games, the circus, a visit to Biltmore Estate in Asheville
and the North Carolina Zoo.

“It’s exciting for our students to earn recognition as the top school in North Carolina from NCARH,” says Steve Anderson, associate
director of residence life for community and education. “RSA has worked
hard to provide a wide range of events that appeal to all students and
I am proud that their commitment is being recognized with this award.”
