Students collect signatures protesting troop surge

Members of Elon Students for Peace and Justice collected approximately 50 signatures Thursday on a letter protesting the planned U.S. troop surge in Iraq. The group gathered just after noon at Fonville Fountain on Scott Plaza, in front of Alamance building.

Junior Grady Rose, a member of Students for Peace and Justice, said the group planned to personally deliver the letter to U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (R-N.C.) later in the day. Coble spoke against the deployment of an additional 20,000 troops on the House floor Feb. 14.
