Political science major Matt Lewis ’08 is interning with North Carolina Senate president pro-tem Marc Basnight this summer. Lewis is researching for the senator on subjects such as the state budget and methamphetamine problems, and is working with the research that comes into the senator’s office. Along with research, Lewis also works with Basnight on the Senate floor.
Lewis has shown great leadership while at Elon. As a sophomore, he became the president of his fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and gained national recognition in the Sigma Phi Epsilon magazine for his efforts in chartering the fraternity. He was also awarded the Outstanding Chapter President of the Year at the 2007 Greek Awards.
Matt Lewis is the son of Todd and Pam Lewis of Asheville, N.C.
