Recent Elon grads awarded national fellowships

Five recent Elon University graduates have been honored in national fellowship competitions for the 2006-07 academic year. Four students were named recipients of their respective awards and a fifth student was named as an alternate. Details...

They are:

Mary Caruso, recipient of a 2007 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship. Mary majored in chemistry and graduated in 2006 as an Honors Fellow and Science Fellow. She is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in organic chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Eden Esters, recipient of a 2007 Phi Kappa Phi Graduate Scholarship. After majoring in music performance/piano and graduating in May as an Elon College Fellow, Eden is bound for Louisiana State University to pursue a master’s degree in music/piano pedagogy.

Geoffrey Lynn, recipient of a 2007 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Geoffrey majored in chemistry and graduated in May as an Elon College Fellow. He is pursuing an M.D. and Ph.D.

Brittany Yelverton, recipient of a 2008 Rotary Multi-Year Ambassadorial Scholarship. Brittany majored in English/creative writing and communications/film and graduated in May. She is bound for New York City to work in independent film production followed by two years of graduate study in South Africa through the Rotary Scholarship.

Jen Romano, alternate for a 2007 Fulbright U.S. Student Grant. A May graduate of Elon, Jen is a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and majored in English/teacher licensure. She is bound for Williams High School to teach English.
