Carufes make $125,000 gift to endow athletics scholarship

A $125,000 gift by Damion and Sherri Carufe of Atlanta has endowed the Carufe Family Scholarship at Elon University.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to a deserving
baseball player with preference given to students who
are majoring in business or finance.

Damion Carufe is senior managing partner at Bear Stearns and
Co. Inc. The Carufe’s daughter, Tori, is an Elon
freshman. The Carufes are firm believers in building
Elon’s endowment through scholarship gifts, helping to
secure the university’s future while providing
opportunities for deserving students to receive
quality education.

Endowing the scholarship qualifies the Carufes for
membership in the IMPACT (I
Make Phoenix
Athletics Competitive
Today) Circle, the premier giving group of
the Phoenix Club. The IMPACT Circle includes Phoenix Club
donors who make annual gifts at the quarter, half and full
scholarship levels or endow a scholarship generating
equivalent annual earnings.
