Levesque presents at Society of Southeastern Social Psychologists Conference

Maurice Levesque, Professor of Psychology, presentedthe results of two studies on the accuracy of first impressions at the annualmeeting of the Society of Southeastern Social Psychologists held October 27 atDuke University. 


As part of a symposium onnew approaches to understanding interpersonal accuracy, Levesque presentedresearch entitled “On Being a Good Judge: Gender as aModerator of Interpersonal Accuracy and Meta-Accuracy in Mixed GenderDyads.”  This research employed SocialRelations Model analysis to address difficulties in the statistical estimation ofaccuracy.  Together with Brian Nelson, anElon University graduate who is now a graduate student in psychology at East TennesseeState University, and Scott Rosenkrans, a current Elon University student, Levesque also presentedthe results of a recently completed dyadic interaction study showing similar genderdifferences in the accuracy of first impressions.
