An exhibition featuring the work of architect Edward Loewenstein will open Tuesday, Nov. 6 at Elon University School of Law. Loewenstein designed the H. Michael Weaver building which houses the law school at the corner of Greene Street and Friendly Avenue in downtown Greensboro. The exhibition, designed by art students at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, will be on display through Jan. 31, 2008.
Loewenstein is credited with bringing modernism to Greensboro. After serving in the army during World War II, Loewenstein designed homes, schools, churches, libraries, synagogues, factories and office buildings in the city. The Weaver building opened as the Greensboro Public Library in 1965.
Public tours of the law school and the exhibition are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 10.
