Law faculty attend legal education conference, publish scholarship

Marty Peters, professor of
legal education, and Don Peters, visiting professor of law,
attended a conference titled “Legal Education at the
Crossroads: Ideas to Action,” held Nov. 2-4 at the
University of South Carolina. Approximately 60 law deans,
professors, clinical legal educators and legal writing
specialists were invited to attend the conference.

Using small and large group
discussions, participants developed local, regional and
national approaches to implement the recommendations made
recently in two books—the Carnegie Report on Legal
Education and Best Practices for Legal Education. The
discussion emphasized approaches, challenges and obstacles to
implementing the recommendations.

Don Peters
has accepted an offer from the Pepperdine Dispute Resolution
Law Journal to publish his recent article, “Just Say No:
Minimizing Limited Authority Negotiating in Court-Connected
Mediation.” The article will appear in the journal’s
spring 2008 edition, which will be published in late May or
early June.
