Pete Lembo became Elon’s first Southern Conference Coach of the Year in football and quarterback Scott Riddle (Ramseur, N.C./Eastern Randolph)became the Phoenix’s first SoCon Freshman of the Year in the sportMonday afternoon when the league announced its football coaches’ annualaccolades. Lembo shared co-coach of the year status with leagueco-champion Wofford’s Mike Ayers.

Elon sophomore wide receiver Terrell Hudgins (Rocky Mount, N.C./Rocky Mount), junior linebacker Corey Weaver (New Bern, N.C./New Bern), junior punter Brandon Lane (Greensboro, N.C./Southeast Guilford) and senior return specialist Michael Mayers (Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown) all earned First Team All-SoCon honors. Mayers also received Second Team All-SoCon recognition as a wide receiver.
