Department of Accounting and Finance hosts 9th Annual Fall CPE Seminar for Accounting Professionals

Nearly 100 regional CPAs gathered in McKinnon Hall on Nov. 9, 2007, to attend the 9th Annual Department of Accounting and Finance Continuing Professional Education Seminar hosted by the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.  This annual seminar is presented by the department of Accounting and Finance in collaboration with Elon University Executive Education and meets continuing education requirements for licensed accounting professioanls.
 
Presentations included federal and state tax updates by Jon Glazman of Smith Leonard PLLC and Keith Woods of Carruthers & Roth, PA.  Paula Weller, of Elon’s Department of Accounting and Finance, and Coleman Rich, in the Department of Business Administration, presented “Lean Processes and the Need for Lean Accounting,” and Steve DeLoach and Greg Lilly, both in the Department of Economics, delivered  “Economic Update: Will the Sub-prime Market Submarine the Economy?” – which focused on the impact of recent trends in the housing market and their potential impact on the North Carolina economy.
 
Presenters volunteer their time and proceeds from the seminar go to support student and departmental activities through the school’s chapter of the Beta Alpha Psi honor society.
