Basirico quoted in New York Times on family disputes

Larry Basirico, dean of International Programs and a professor
of sociology, was quoted in the New York Times’ “Week in Review” on Dec. 9, 2007,
in an article about feuds.

In “No,
We Don’t Kiss and Make Up,” Abby Goodenough explores the nature of various
types of feuds between scientists, politicians, friends and family members.
Basirico noted that feuds can come to an end when  those feuding face a common problem. He was quoted as saying,
“It’s got to be a commonality that brings them together, something that
supersedes the importance of the feud itself.”
