Elon Mock Trial concludes 2007-08 season

The Elon Mock Trial team completed its fifth year
of competition this past weekend.  The team
placed 8th out of 19 universities at the Marilyn Butler Regional
Qualifying Tournament in Louisville, Ky.  With a record of 4-3-1, the team was just shy of moving on to the
American Mock Trial Association National Tournament in Hamilton, Ohio.

The tournament in Louisville was the fifth tournament of the
2007-2008 season for the team.  The team had competed at the Spider Invitational (Richmond, Va.),
the Tobacco Road Invitational (Chapel Hill/Durham, N.C.), the Carolina Classic
(Greensboro, N.C.), and the Willis Wichard Invitational (Buies Creek, N.C.).  The team showed amazing progress throughout
the competition season, which culminated in Kentucky with a strong showing among the nations elite teams.

Specifically, the Elon Mock Trial team took on teams from
Kenyon College, the University of Kentucky, Rhodes College and Washington University
of St. Louis this past weekend in Louisville. 
This was after taking on the likes of the University of Georgia, Wake Forest,
Duke University and George Washington throughout the year.

The competitors on Elon Mock Trial are coached by political science professor Matrice Williams and Elon Law student William Warihay.  The organization was founded in 2003 by
William Warihay and Patrick Elliott. 
Since then the team has grown to become a nationally recognized program
through competitions as far away as Tucson, Ariz.

Currently, the team is lead by President Lauren Nichols (’09)
and Vice President Allison Carter (’09).
