The Elon community was saddened to learn of the death of staff member
Emogene Spangler Courtney, who worked as an office assistant in campus
safety and police. Mrs. Courtney died Thursday, March 20.
Jean began her tenure at Elon in 1987 as the traffic supervisor in the
security department and became the department’s office assistant in
1997. Jean was a reliable, committed employee, dedicated to her work
and the university. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, March 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at
Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington. A graveside service
will be held tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington.
