Peters Leads New Study on Moral Discernment in the Churches

Toddie Peters
Toddie Peters, Associate Professor of Religious Studies, is in New York this week heading up a new study process by the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches (WCC), examining the topic of Moral Discernment in the Churches.

The task of Faith and Order is to promote the visible unity of the Church and this new task force is examining how churches address potentially divisive moral issues. Peters, who is co-moderating the study process, was also asked to present a case study on globalization that served as the center-piece for shaping the developing study. The study process will run for five years and the task force will present a report to the next WCC General Assembly in 2013.
