Nancy Rutland of St. Petersburg, Fla., has made a $50,000 gift to establish the Nancy E. Rutland and Jason R. Spitzer Endowment to assist deserving students majoring in political science.
Rutland, who is an attorney, also will make annual gifts until the scholarship is fully endowed to ensure that Rutland/Spitzer Scholarships may be awarded to students immediately. Rutland is the mother of Jason Spitzer, a senior majoring in political science and communications.
This gift will be counted toward Elon’s upcoming fundraising campaign, which will focus on building the university’s endowment.
