Services set for young alum killed in accident

Services will be held this weekend for a 2004 Elon University alumnus who died Tuesday night at work in what investigators have called an industrial accident.

Matthew John Ford, 26, a computing sciences major, was killed Oct. 7, 2008, at Southland Electrical Supply in Burlington when, according to the Burlington Times-News, a piece of heavy equipment he was operating overturned. Ford was the chief information officer for the company. At Elon, Ford served on The Pendulum staff and was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, and the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, at the Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home’s Kinderton Chapel. For directions to the funeral home, click on the link to the right of this page.
