Art Cassill named Wesley R. Elingburg Professor in accounting

Art Cassill, a professor of accounting, has been named Elon University's first Wesley R. Elingburg Professor. Cassill was recognized during Fall Convocation on Oct. 23, where Elon trustee Wes Elingburg and his wife, Cathy, were in attendance for the presentation. It was their generous gift to the university that made possible the endowed professorship.

In introducing Cassill, Mary Gowan, dean of Elon’s Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, praised the professor for his dedication to students and his scholarship. In accepting the honor, Cassill thanked his colleagues, the university and the Elinburgs.

“Wes, I am committed to upholding the high ideals and the ethical and professional standards that you exemplify,” Cassill said.

Wes Elingburg, who is a certified public accountant and served on the Love School Board of Advisors for five years, and Cathy Elingburg made the gift to enable Elon to recruit and retain top faculty in the business school.Wes Elingburg is former chief financial officer of LabCorp. The couple’s gift is part of Ever Elon: The Campaign for the Future of Our University.
