Amy Overman, an assistant professor of psychology, had a column about her experience teaching an online course published in the Nov. 6 edition of Inside Higher Ed, a daily online news site that covers trends and issues that affect colleges and universities.
Overman shared with readers the lessons she learned when she taught her first ever online course, Memory & Memory Disorders – PSY384OL, a cognitive/clinical neuroscience of memory course:
“I was forced to be creative about how to present course material andensure that my students had a solid understanding of the information. Ialso realized I needed to revise my opinion of online teaching andthose who participate in it. I now know that online courses are not apale and lifeless version of traditional courses or worse, a ‘pay foran A’ scam in which everyone teaches him/herself and everyone gets agood grade.”
