Library dean elected NC LIVE chair

Kate Hickey, Dean and University Librarian, has been elected chair of the NC LIVE Librarians Council, the governing body of North Carolina’s virtual library.  She has been serving as the Council representative of NCICU (North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities) since 2006.

NC LIVE is a statewide collaborative among the nearly 200 public and academic libraries in North Carolina and provides the people of North Carolina with online access to a large and diverse collection of resources aimed at serving educational, economic, and informational needs. Many resources used heavily by Elon students, including Ebsco Academic Search Premier, CINAHL with Full Text and PsycINFO, are among the dozens of databases funded through NC LIVE.

The organization is advised and governed by representative committees of librarians, and the staff operates from offices located on the campus of the host institution, North Carolina State University.  NC LIVE is supported by the North Carolina General Assembly and through dues paid by NCICU members.
