Lynne Kurdziel Formato, assistant professor of performing arts, presented a session on "Teaching Musical Theatre in Moscow" at the Music Theatre Educators Alliance International Conference held Jan. 8-11, 2009, at Shenandoah University in Virginia.
In her elected position of vice-president, Formato was instrumental in planning the conference, which included attendees and presenters from major music theatre programs across the United States and Europe. She now goes to work on the upcoming European conference, which will convene in September 2009 in Denmark and Germany.
Formato is currently directing and choreographing “Nine” for Elon’s Department of Performing Arts. The musical is based on the Fellini film “8 1/2” and had a recent successful Broadway revival as well as an upcoming movie directed by Rob Marshall of “Chicago” fame. Elon’s own version will be performed onstage Feb. 12-15.
