RecycleMania 2009 Results – Week 3

Elon University collected more than 6,300 pounds of material during the third official week of RecycleMania 2009, bringing the total to 27,506 pounds for the contest.

The results place Elon 172nd out of 408 reported schools for total weight volume captured.

Per Capita Classic

Overall, Elon is now 167th out of the 408 reported entries nationwide with a 4.06-pound per capita weight volume. The university dropped to fourth place in North Carolina (and third in the Southern Conference) in the category.

Targeted Materials: Aluminum/Plastic/Glass

Overall, Elon is now 61st out 271 reporting entries nationwide for this category with a 1.24 pounds per capita weight volume. The university collected 2,520 pounds of this material in Week 3 and remains first in the Southern Conference.

Targeted Materials: Cardboard

Elon fell to 100th out of 260 entries with 1.53 pounds per capita weight volume (2,660 pounds recycled during Week 3). In the state, Elon dropped to No. 4, and it ranks No. 2 in the Southern Conference.

Among private colleges and universities, Elon placed No. 58 out of 107 entries.

Targeted Materials Paper

Overall, Elon placed No. 150 out of 271 entries with a 1.29 pounds per capita weight volume, fifth in the state and fifth in the Southern Conference for the same category. Among private colleges and universities, Elon placed No. 70 out of 114 entries.
