“Faces of Injustice” and witness misidentification – March 11

Lee Wayne Hunt was convicted 23 years ago of a crime he did not commit and, despite new evidence and another man's confession, Hunt remains in prison. Jennifer Thompson-Cannino's incorrect identification of her attacker sent Ronald Cotton to prison for 10 1/2 years before new evidence cleared his name. Hear their stories tonight in a program sponsored by Elon's Center for Public Affairs.

The discussion will be led by Cotton’s attorney, Judge Tom Lambeth, and Hunt’s attorney, professor Rich Rosen, in Yeager Recital Hall tonight starting at 7 p.m.

The presentation will include a segment from 60 Minutes that was broadcast March 8 on Cotton and Thompson-Cannino. A documentary produced by Elon students Lochlin Rosen, Mitch Pittman, Sarah Sagar and Abigail Bassett will also be shared to give the audience information on Hunt’s story.
