Omri Shimron, an assistant professor of music, will present a lecture-recital on Friday, March 20, for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter meeting of the College Music Society. The conference meets at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. His lecture recital is titled: “New Music from Israel: Metamorphosis II (2007) by Menachem Wiesenberg.”
The presentation will provide an analytical overview of this newly minted work as well as several live demonstrations. The composition was commissioned for the Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition held in Tel Aviv, Israel, every three years.
